There’s nothing better than having no plans for your Sunday, and being able to lazily amble around town and take your time. Dropping into cafes for a coffee, window shopping, visting some local markets… where are the top Melbourne suburbs to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon like this in?

The obvious choices are the inner-city hubs for great cafes and art – Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, Smith Street in Collingwood, anywhere around St Kilda, or High Street in Northcote.

But there’s also some often-overlooked top Melbourne suburbs to lazily amble around in on a Sunday: Yarraville, Williamstown, Balaclava, Armadale and Elsternwick are all great places to explore on a Sunday afternoon. Are there any others you can add to your list – and why are they great places to kill time on a Sunday?

  1. Armadale, beautiful shops, many trendy cafes and close to small parks or an easy stroll along chapel st.

Or. a bit further out to the leafy suburb of Blackburn, plenty of walking tracks around Gardners Creek and the Blackburn Lake. Many cute cafes such as Gourmet Girl, Blackburn, opposite Laburnam station.
